Warning- this post has nothing to do with Tulane and/or New Orleans! But everyone needs a vacation now and then, right?
You might have noticed that I didn't get too many posts in this month. That is because I took a much needed vacation! To Spain! It was a really incredible trip. I spent a week in Madrid and then met up with my family to hike for seven days on the Camino de Santiago. The Camino, a.k.a. the Way of St. James, is one of numerous trails that people have, for hundreds of years, made pilgrimages on to reach the cathedral (and tomb) of St. James the apostle, in Santiago de Compostela. Today, it's still a very popular hike that can take around a month to complete if started near the French and Spanish border in the Pyrenees. My family and I did the last seven days that meandered through small towns and hamlets, over rolling hills and mountain ranges, and through peaceful meadows and forests and ended up in the northern Spanish town of Santiago. I even met a Tulane alumni on the Santiago, of course! It was an fantastic journey that left me filling fulfilled and also with some great photographs. Here are a few of them! Enjoy, and back to your regularly scheduled blogging later this week.

An example of the gorgeous things you see along the Camino. This is the Gaudi-designed palace in Astorga. |

The Camino sure is pretty. |
Ran into some Tulane alumni! Here I am with an ostrich. And also with Kurston Melton and her dad Kenneth Metlon, Tulane Medicine class of 1978! |
