Tour time! |
Coming off one of our best seasons in years, including a trip to the R & L Carriers Bowl, the Green Wave is going to be in for quite the treat when they play their first game at Yulman. Even more exciting is our stellar incoming class. Yesterday at National Signing Day, Coach Curtis Johnson called the class the "best he's seen his is three years at the school." We inked all 24 players and the buzz is pretty big.
And the only thing better than coming off a bowl appearance and netting a killer recruitment class? Coming home to our gorgeous, brand new, on-campus football stadium. The 30,000-seat, $73 million facility is still on track to be open this season for our home opener. I took my admission team over to the site for a formal tour given by Josh Beezley, Tulane's Construction Coordinator from our Capital Projects group. We got to see everything from the field all the way up to the top level plaza. I can assure you, this stadium spares no expense. Everything from a crazy cool on-field-level bunker suite to two massive party decks, this stadium is built to impress. I am most excited for the Glazer Family Club, named after Jill and Avi Glazer, two of the stadium's largest donors. The club takes up nearly half the field and will offer some killer views of the action. Also, you read that right before- two party decks. I guess technically they go the name of "club decks," but they will be the best spot to catch the game in an open and social environment.
The field itself will be called Benson Field, in honor of donor and owner of the Saints. The state of the art synthetic turf field will feature green and white checkerboard end zones and the turf will be similar to that used in the Superdome.

You can stay up-to-date with the stadium's progress by checking out their website and viewing their constitution cams. In the meantime, here are some shots I grabbed of Yulman during the tour. Stay tuned, Green Wave fans, this is going to be epic!

Josh is standing on the Bunker Suite, right on field level. It's right near the tunnel where the team will enter. Should be sweet! (no pun intended) |
